CEB

This is CEB - the mission center in Campinas. Praise the Lord for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for forein missions and for the Southern Baptist who give faithfully so that we could have such a nice place for our mission offices and language study! Thank You!

CEB - the mission center

These are several shots of the mission center. Chuck is going from language classroom behind the main building, into and through the offices and outside to our car. This building was actually a house for mission families for years, and then converted into the language school/ mission offices.

Web Cam Shots

This is actually a web cam shot of Hope when we were still in Little Rock, AR awaiting our visas to come to Brazil, I jsut thought it was really cute. Allison was showing her how we were going to use the web cam on the computer to talk to family and friends back in the United States once we were in Brazil.

This is a shot Allison took, last night while talking on SKYPE to MawMaw (Chuck's mom).

Language School

We have Portugues Language classes M-F at the mission center. Right now there are only 3 of us in class. Allison, Chuck, and Jim Whitley - another IMB missionary that will be working here in Campinas. We'll eventually move to another school in a few weeks where we'll be for the rest of our language learning this year.

This is Priscila, one of our teachers. She's great!

This is a view from the upstairs missionary apartment above the langage class room. Great view of the city don't you think?

Car sizes

Small cars. Very small cars. When we first came here, we were amazed at how small the cars were. One day we say a small Hyaundi SVU type car and it looked monsterous comparitely speaking. Many of the cars are this small.

This is the mission's VW Combi van that we'll use to move some of the mission furniture out of our house and into storage at the mission office when our crate arrives with all our stuff from home!

Crate Training

Well, we stared off crate training the puppy Elvis. But Abby seems to have taken over the position and Elvis has outgrown her crate.

Packages from home

Thanks for the care packages from home! Abigail is seen here modeling the Easter Jewlrey that Grand sent. Currently, we've found that it takes about 3 weeks for a small shoe box size package to arrive here.

Lovely View

This is a view from our front door! Lovely huh?

Chuck and Chicken Wire

Chuck's putting up chicken wire across the bottom of our fence in the front yard. Currently our dog Elvis likes to make a mad dash for the bars and SQUEEZES through, into the outside world! So, until she's bigger...chicken wire is the solution.

Ultrasound Picture

Here is our unborn baby! 15 weeks in-utero. This is a digital pic of the ultrasound photo. The head is at the bottom right of the picture. Her (or his) feet are on the left.

Save the tail

"Mommy and Hope saved my tail," says Elvis. Rottwielers traditionally have their tail cut off, for cosmetic purposes when they are 3 days old. But, since we bought her from the pet store at 2 months old, and she still had her tail, mom lobbied to save her tail. When we got home from the pet store and Hope said, "Mommy please don't cut off her tail," there was no way we were going to do it then! So yeah!! Our Elivs has a tail!

Chuck and Allison

Just thought we'd hold out the camera and get a shot of the two of us, since we're always shooting pictures of everything and everyone else! So...Here WE are!

Indian Day

Today the kids learned about Indians at school. There is some sort of Brazilian holiday this weekend regarding Indians! Abby loved her headdress. In fact, when I put her down for a nap this afternoon, she wouldn't take it off, so she napped in it!

Getting an Ultrasound

Yeay! We got to see a picture of the baby in mommy's tummy! Hope says it's twins, a boy and a girl! (It's NOT) Only ONE. Allison is about 15 weeks along today, and we took the whole family (including fellow missionary Ramona Hodges) to see the ultrasound! It was wonderful! We expect another girl...but it's probably still to early to tell. Maybe we'll get a better shot next ultrasound.

Elvis and the girls

Well, it seems that Elvis is beginning to calm down a bit around our girls. But MUCH prayer is still needed as we teach the Queen or Rock & Roll that she is not the one to make her fans (Hope and Abby) scream for her! All 3 girls are getting used to each other.

Cooked Pacifier

OK - So here's the story. Abigail is attatched to this ONE pacifier. No other will do. And just about daily we go on a "hunt" for her paci (much like Larry the Cucumber searches for his hairbrush in the song..."Oh Where is My Hairbrush?"). Well, it just so happens that whenever Elvis the puppy finds it, she like to put it in her mouth too!

Well of course, we counldn't have that, so when Elvis found Abby's pacifier one day, mommy decided to sterilize it by boiling it in water on the stove for about 20 minutes.

Well, mommy forgot about it, and all the water evaporated and the paci melted to the pan. It was quite a scene trying to "unstick" it from the bottom of the pan, but, as soon as it was cooled, Abby didn't mind, she stuck it right back in her mouth!

(One prayer request is that Abby will soon give up this security pacifier - I'm sure it's not too much longer for this world!)

Fruity Family

This is one of the grocery stores that we like. We love all the fresh fruits and vegetables. The girls love it too. Today, they picked our bananas, melancia (watermelon), manja (mangos), morangas (strawberries) and plums! We have a lot of great fruit juices too! We're just a fruity family I guess!

Hope and Abigail as we all ride to the grocery store as a family! Hope likes to say (about going places) , "Ok, lets go like a famiwee!

Missionary Family

We are so thankful to be in a part of Brazil during language school and cultural adjustment time AND to have such a large group of other missionaries, who serve as instantaneous family members. God is good - All the time!!!

Easter Eggs & Missionary Cousins

The kids had a great time dying easter eggs with all the "missionary cousins" here in Campinas. After they colored the eggs, the search was on...

Allison & Vivianne

Vivi is one of our language teachers. We have language class M-F from 8-Noon ( and then homework and study time after that).

Mosquitos!

Please continue to pray for our girls as they encounter mosquitos. Both Abby and Hope don't do too well with the bites they get almost daily.

Ballerina

Each week Hope takes Ballet class at school. She loves it! Abby copies her sister's moves.

Baby Love Preschool

These are the school uniforms the girls wear each day to school. They both really like it. Hope wanted to be the center of attention in the picture, when I told her to move so Abby could be in it too, she pouted!

Neighbors

This is a picture of our neighboor immidiately next door. It's actually a business. They sell windows, doors, & stuff with PVC plastics. The have a GREAT DANE dog! Kind of makes me feel more secure with a Great Dane next door, and a Rottweiler in our yard, and bars around our house with an electric fence on top! I hope that does the trick. But we never can have too much prayer. (The people walking in the picture our fellow missionaires, David & Patty Lopez with our girls! I, Allison, am rarely seen, as I'm the one taking the pictures!

The eating is good!

This is the restaurant 2 doors down from our house. Good Food. It's like a buffet, but instead of all-you-can-eat, it's charged "per kilo". Typical Brazilian food - rice & beans, good meat, and lots of fresh fruits and veggies!

Pizza Chefs

Hope and Abigail helped me make pizza last week. Abby helped me put the musrooms on - THE WHOLE JAR of mushrooms.

Cheese! (literally)
